About the Book

Th is book is a love story. Its main focus is on ten years in the life of Len. His chance meeting with a lovely young Southern girl, Velma, was to change his life dramatically. Too, this encounter was no less than destiny. For through this one chance meeting, he was able to salvage tragic loss and overcome intense loneliness which would drastically alter his life and the lives of those he loved, two young sons. It was through aviation that he met his destiny in Velma as he participated in the American Air Races shows. On the sixth of November of 1933, George Weaver bought his daughter, Velma, an airplane ride. Len was the pilot.


About the Author

Wayne is a writer. He says that he does not have a choice, he must write. Apparently this comes from both his father and his mother. Len was a prolifi c writer as evidenced by the numerous and lengthy letters he wrote to Velma aft er their initial meeting in 1933 at the Charlotte, NC, Air Races Show. Velma, too, wrote poetry all of her life. Wayne is a member of Christ the King Church in Charlotte, NC. He is active in the Life groups, men’s fellowship, worship and bible study meetings, community projects and dabbles in landscaping. He attends the National Songwriters Association Meetings, Charlotte Chapter. He has given many poetry readings in Gastonia and the surrounding communities.
