About the Book
At 17 years old Michael Block was running a Portrait Photography studio in Brooklyn, NY. It was said that Michael has the “Eyes of a Poet” and he was always creating art, from the time he could hold a pencil. At 19 he enlisted in the Air Force in hopes of becoming a photo journalist taking pictures of the Korean War. The Air Force had other plans for him. He learned jet mechanics and worked on the jets in Korea. Every free minute he had, he would leave the base and go out to the country side and photograph everything that he could. The children captivated him and he took hundreds of photos of them. Over 50 years later at 73, he published his book of these photos titled, “Korea, a Fine Art Impression of Korea during the 1950’s by an American Photographer”. It is an extremely moving photo journal of the effects of war. Michael has the ability to capture a vision with his camera and convert the image into a work of art to communicate a story through pictures. His photographs are often mistaken for painting. While viewing his photographs, admirers are often heard touting, “What Great Paintings!” Michael and his wife, Patricia work tirelessly for the arts and artists. Together they curate many ongoing art exhibits and venues, where artists have great opportunities to have their work shown and sold. Michael’s work has been shown at prestigious galleries from New York to Florida. You can enjoy more of Michael’s work and purchase prints by visiting his web site www.MichaelBlockPhotos.com. This site features both his Fine Art Photography and his Painting in Acrylics, Air Brush and Oil. Michael is truly multi-talented.
