About the Book

This book is a side bar to a series of books my wife and I are working on under the banner of “PHOTO JOURNAL IRELAND”. On our journeys around Ireland it became obvious to my wife, who is an amateur artist, and myself that some of the photographs we were taking , artists might like to paint. As some artists specialize in certain subjects i.e. Lighthouses, Landscape, Castles, Flowers etc. we have included 17 sections on different subjects , hoping to cover most topics. This is not a book to teach you how to draw or paint with Water Colours, Oils or Acrylic. This is a book that will bring the outdoors inside and make it easier for you , the Artist, to be more versatile with your work without having to travel all over the country. Hopefully this will be the first of many books that will form an Encyclopedia of “Images to Paint “. Happy Painting Julie and Anthony Hand. About the Author

Born in Dublin, Ireland and became interested in Photography at the tender age of 12, I bought my first camera then ( Kodak Brownie ) and was able to finance my hobby because of a paper round I had. I became the official family photographer. I progressed to a Yashica SLR and moved on to developing my own Black and White photographs and subsequently Colour Slides. I joined Book Clubs that had special offers on Technical Photography Books and as a result , built up a nice small library, which although all based on film most of the technical information is still relevant in todays Digital era. I only took up Photography seriously when I was made redundant during the property bubble burst. At which point I attended Collage to get a more indebt knowledge, where I found, because of my knowledge of Film I had an advantage over the younger students. When asked by one of my Tutors what Photographer had inspired me I had to pick Ansel Adams, who, like me was using his images to show that there was still areas of beauty that had not been taken over by the concrete jungle. I hope the landscape images of Ireland will encourage artists, not only to paint but to visit them as well. My thanks to my wife Julie who has given me so much encouragement to produce this book and for her contributing her share of images also.
