About the Book

Six White Geese was based on a true story of when these geese were brought to Raging River Tree Farm to weed the nursery. Nine-year-old Sasha and her younger sister, Sonia, lived there with their parents. The geese were wild, but Sasha talked Sonia into trying to tame them. After being beaten by the goose’s wings when trying to hand feed them and being chased and nipped by the geese, Sasha finally decided to pretend that she was a goose. She used goose feather that she had collected to tape wings to her shoulders and arms, where she chased her sister around the yard. Later, as she walked by the feed shed, she spied a goose that had come in looking for grain. Sasha was able to herd the goose into a corner, where it finally surrendered to her loving arms and sweet words.
