About the Book

Information has always been a critical part of the business equation, and now with the advent of real-time its value cannot be underestimated. These short essays focus on the nature of the relationship between business processes and information technology from my perspective as an energy industry executive and advisor charged with acquiring, managing, and assessing the data and information generated by revenue producing assets such as oil field properties, refineries, pipelines, and chemical plants—the complete process and value chain of the energy industry including retail outlets. This discussion sheds fresh light on several contemporary management issues.

About the Author

Dr. Shemwell is an acknowledged authority on information management and its integration into the business process, including organizational change resulting from industry structural transformation. He has authored over 150 publications and led the turnaround and reconstruction process for global organizations as well as start-up and professional services firms. While the technology business unit head and member of the Executive Leadership Team for an S&P 100 firm he was a key individual in over $5 billion in mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. As the Managing Director for major consulting firm, he assisted clients’ renovation throughout the globalization process.
