I refused to acknowledge that my mother and I didn't have the same relationship as before. Due to a choice that I had made, by divorcing and finding someone else, the `someone else' didn't fit her criteria. And this made it difficult for her to accept me. She could not have come to terms with the relationship I had created for myself, so she ruined our mother -daughter relationship. Honestly, as I share this very personal matter with you, that question of `WHY' always comes up and usually the pain resonates with ME. I took many years of hating myself, with this breakdown. My relationship with my mother was priceless, she was my heroine, she was my reason to become a woman, and in that matter of CHOICE, it went. I was lost. I could not have acknowledged what had happen, because in the back of my mind, I was going to fix it. It would get better, it had to. She loved me, she would accept me. I was always stuck waiting for approval. I dimmed my light so low, that I was barely seen. All my decisions were based on what she thought or how she would react. So I lived in tight space with high walls. I placed my relationship with my partner on the side, while focusing on trying to get her to ACCEPT. What I did was risky at the time, and of course I didn't know then what I was doing. I had a plan to get her to change her mind, and I contributed all my effort in doing this. And I had convinced myself that she would come around. And she never did. It got worse. And because she refused to accept the way it is, it took her over as a disease. The woman I knew was different. Her features changed, she was determined that I was not going to be with him, and proclaimed over and over again her that this relationship would not last. Gossip and lies started to surface, my own family was against me and it became overbearing. I was diagosoned by others that my partner and I were dying of HIV. I took over 6 tests over the period of 18 months just to convince myself I was truly dying, and all I did was create an illusion in my mind that my doctor referred me to counselling . I couldn't understand how I was being allowed to live, when I looked around, and all was against me. How could I not be dying when my mother had diagnosed and help shared her medical experience with others. The looks I got from people were all of pity and disgust. I allowed her to convince me, it was true. I wanted to die. So when the tests were negative I fell further in depression. The place that I created all by myself.

Genielle aired on Morning Brew, a TV programme which is a perfect blend of segments A fast paced infotainment program, which entertains, educates, informs and inspires the citizens of Trinidad. She also hosted her 1st seminar on Purpose which focused on one finding their true potential during all the challenging issues in life. After her separation from her 1st marriage of 10 years, her life went downhill. She became pregnant within months of her separation for a man whom shared no love together, moved homes and schools over 5 times, spiritually broken, bank account on zero, attempted suicide and severely depressed. The only strong bond she had left was with her mother, and that too broke down irrevocably. She was at breaking point. It took her to see her child's hand run across her 7 months bump and pressing against her stomach, seeing her imprint of this life, a life she tried to destroy, she came to a reality that they both needed to live. She begun to re-build her life by gaining well earned jobs and she slowly regained confidence. All this time the relationship with her partner, grew. They saw in each other what they lacked and a unconditional love was created. As a family they built their home and now married with 4 beautiful girls. She made a promise to herself never to allow anyone to take her down like that again.
