About the Book

I was inspired to write this book due to the things that I have witness over the years with in my self and others that have been a concern with the high rate of drop out amongst Ministers, Christian workers and Compassion workers in the church. In doing this paper I have sort to research and explore what burnout is and the impact it is having on all professions and work situations. In this paper I will access a number of resources that are centred on workplace stress and burnout with in curtain professions. As a pastor myself and working with many other pastors I have discovered that the majority of them are burnt out and are not even aware that they are burnt out. These church leaders are from nearly all denominations as well as my own.

About the Author

Ian Bartley has been a church minister, a clinical counsellor, college lecturer, teacher, consultant and international speaker over the past thirty years. He is a husband and a proud father, enjoys cooking, good food and a good thriller movie. His interests are in history, social sciences and the arts. His experience in working with people in the field of counselling and social work has brought about the writing of this book. Ian holds degrees in Adult Education and a Master of Arts. He has done four years research in the area of Burnout and emotional exhaustion in ministry and compassion workers. This is Ian's second book his first being a book about interaction in relationships titled Transactions in Relationships.
