Just beyond the mountain side near a small town far away lived a little girl and her mother. It’s been exactly two years since this young girl and her mother have lived alone together. Their house was built on the highest hill which overlooks the entire town just below. The girl’s name was Ezayah. Like other children, Ezayah went to school, did her chores and dreamt of better things. Ezayah frequently stood near the edge of the hillside while looking down at the small town below. She pretended that the town was a large ant hill and that the people were the busy little ants, stuck in their busy little lives. Her mother was a sincere and caring young woman. Ezayah’s mother loved Ezayah very much and just like Ezayah, she also dreamt of better things. Their house was typical in likeness to all the other houses in and around the town. The houses were made from the stones found throughout the town’s outer edges, which intersected the surrounding mountains. The house had two fl oors and a chimney. It was a very large house fi t for a king and queen. The kitchen, dining room and guest rooms were located downstairs. Upstairs, six rooms were dedicated to family members only. Ezayah’s room was one the largest of the six rooms. It had the best view of the town below, which she found very fascinating. Her room faced the Northern side of the house, which was often very cold. Gusts of cool air continuously traveled from the town below and entered the room through Ezayah’s bedroom window.
