About the Book

Wherever in the world the professor goes the blind man appears with his talking dog. Mysterious and fabulously wealthy, every time they meet he has more questions—about the nature of God, whether religious statements can be true, or scientific ones for that matter, and dozens more. Finally the professor, nursing a broken marriage, spends a weekend in the blind man’s English mansion. Nothing in that unlikely place is what he expects: the questioning about every aspect of religion is unrelenting, while mysteries multiply. What is the secret of the Canadian priest who seems on the edge of breakdown, and what about that other priest in the basement? Primula, the niece, is not the innocent the professor expected, and soon he realises that she holds his future in her hands. He outlines his religious theories for her and is rewarded, but a document shredder proves his nemesis.
