About the Book

JOURNEY TO THE AQUITAINE is a travelogue, an art portfolio, and the story of one artist’s exploration of his ancestral roots in medieval France. In his quest to learn about the life and times of Eleanor of Aquitaine, Dan Cooper's legendary great-grandmother, 23 generations removed, he found a love of place that inspired this series of exquisite minature paintings. Enhanced by the artist’s commentary, notes on the geography, history and cuisine of the Aquitaine, and an essay about the story of Eleanor’s life and her Court of Love. This book will lead you on a journey to places of breathtaking beauty, with an enduring culture and history that offers valuable insight on our present life and times.
