Whispered Songs

About the Book

“Whispered Songs” is a compilation of paintings and prose by John Daniel Neubauer. Most of the images shown in the book are highlights of work completed between 2001 and 2004. Interspersed among the painting images are short prose pieces that reflect on the artistic process and what the “art” part of painting is all about.

Most of all, “Whispered Songs” is a celebration of how one artist’s work helps him invoke a greater connection to God. The results of this connection are paintings that are filled with spirituality and a sense of place.

Both the images and the prose are compelling for the honest analysis of the spiritual side of oil painting. The reader is given an opportunity to open a window to a painter’s world and see what is artistically evocative and what compels one particular painter to paint.
