About the Book

The Get Real About Teen Pregnancy Campaign is designed to increase public understanding about realistic approaches all adults can take to help address the problem of teen pregnancy. Campaign activities are focused on increasing public understanding of teenage pregnancy as an adult problem; promoting the concept of healthy adolescent sexuality; and providing support for access to contraceptives services and comprehensive sexuality education in California’s schools. In addition to reaching adults, policymakers and opinion leaders statewide, the Get Real campaign works with five Community Action Projects (CAPs). The CAPs are also funded by The California Wellness Foundation and are working to reduce teen pregnancy rates in these communities: Modesto, Madera, Richmond, Oceanside, and Hollywood. Since 1998,Ogilvy Public Relations and the Get Real public education team has created and implemented innovative media strategies, conducted groundbreaking research in ethnic communities, coordinated consistent stakeholder outreach, provided training and resources for initiative grantees, produced award-winning advertising and collateral and developed strategic partnerships. The Get Real About Teen Pregnancy campaign is funded by a grant to Ogilvy Public Relations as part of The California Wellness Foundation's Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Initiative.
