About the Book

Lilly Abbott loves her life. She is a soprano in her school choir, fulfilling the dream she shares with her parents of becoming a professional singer. Her grades are great, and she has nothing to fear about finishing out the eighth grade or moving up to the high school. She is even considering joining the high school flag team – uh, color guard. Lilly has watched the color guard practice and perform for the past couple of years; they are the most enchanting girls she has ever seen. When she signs up to audition, she hopes for acceptance into this tight-knit group of friends – and she hopes to not clock herself over the head with a six-foot flag pole! Lilly’s life plans are fouled, however, when tragedy strikes her voice. Before she is ready, she must learn to rely on the support and friendship from girls she barely knows. Not to mention Eladio, a romantic interest who stirs feelings in Lilly that she never thought possible. Lilly is about to learn that not even the best laid plans will always come to fruition, and even though the end result might not be what she originally planned, life is best when really lived. About the Author

J.M. Hope first became involved in her high school color guard in the late 1990s and has since gone on to pursue performance opportunities with several college and drum and bugle corps color guards. Miss Hope has always believed in the empowerment of youth through the performing arts. She has been influenced by many notable authors in her lifetime, including Mark Twain, Anne McCaffrey, H.G. Wells, Ann M. Martin, Katherine Applegate, Jean Craighead George, and Stephanie Meyer. She now resides in Missouri, where she teaches high school science, with her beloved horses and dogs.
