About the Book
“Wali Woodpecker” is a delightful educational children’s book, about a woodpecker, who is building his home. It teaches children about why the woodpecker pecks on the tree. It lets them know that birds must provide a home for their families similar to human families.
About the Author
D. Min'i imah Akhtab D. Min'i imah Akhtab was born in New Jersey. She grew up and attended school in Linden, New Jersey. Throughout her school years, she spent many hours reading at the Linded Public Library. D. Min'i imah Akhtab (formerly Delores McKenzie) is a graduate of the Linden High School Class of 1954. After her marriage, Mrs. Akhtab left New Jersey and established residency in Detroit, Michigan where she lived for a number of years. In 1978, she and her growing family moved to California. Since her childhood,Mrs. Akhtab had always desired to pursue a career in nursing, she decided to attend nursing school.She enrolled at Compton College in California and successfully graduated and obtained a Registered Nurses License. It was not until she retired that D. Min'i imah's ideas for children's stories were kindled. Her first book, Lola and the Shiny Nickel, portrays memories of her childhood days. Her second book, Wali Woodpecker, talks about a woodpecker building his home. Mrs. Akhtab resides in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She is the mother of six children and nine grandchildren.
