About the Book
He could have written about anything or any one. He chose to write about a special time in his life. The time after life with his parents and before Mom and us kids appeared on the scene. A time of which we were only given tiny glimpses. At the end of his life it was that time and those people who captured his mind. He would sit in his old blue rocking chair and call out names of people who left this earth long ago.
About the Author
Robert Hall was the first born to a poor couple living in rural Northwest Florida. In 1941 he escaped the hardships of small town life by embracing those of the military life. He was a veteran of WWII, The Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. As a member of the Greatest Generation he helped free two continents from tyranny. He fought in nine major campaigns, was captured and escaped twice, and survived injuries when his jeep hit a land mine. Decorated by two countries, his many awards included the French Croix de Guerre, awarded for bravery in the face of the enemy. He was honorably discharged in 1967 after a quarter of a century in uniform. He wrote this semi-autobiographical short story hoping it would be published.
