Ashes and Rubble is a collection of fiction short stories that poignantly describe the plight of girls and women in various parts of the world. With Chekhov-like story telling, each short story conveys nuances of humor, tragedy, oppression, joy, pain, and love. This is the author’s first fiction book.
About the Author
Hayat Alvi, Ph.D., is a Political Science professor specializing in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), South Asia, and Islamic Studies. She has traveled throughout the MENA region and India. She is proficient in Arabic and Urdu. She lives in the East Coast of the United States and is a prolific writer and passionate feminist, human rights activist, and animal lover. Ashes and Rubble is her first fiction book, but the stories are based on true events with some artistic license. None of the character names is real.
