About the Book
Just as his negligent father before him, twenty-two-year-old Emit Demin has left home seeking his long-awaited independence. Bearing the loss and fear of his weighty childhood, he resists the guilt of abandoning his mother and the familiar countryside for the busy indifference of a distant metropolis. Soon, however, priorities change. Two detached but indomitable rivals make themselves known. For Emit, their contest involves potentially-lethal consequences. His life is in the balance, the home-front, disturbed: with surreal elements assigned to kill him and a cynical insomniac employed to protect, it may take more than he has to outlive his urban stay.
