About the Book
I was born June 4, 1928 in Semora, North Carolina. I was born on Clarence Pointer’s farm. I was delivered by a midwife. Her name was Addie Royster. I was named Willie Cora Cornelius Stewart. Mr. Pointer’s wife was named Willie. My mother named me after her. That was a name I always hated. Mr. Clarence, his wife, and their two sons always spoke of me as being special. My mother’s name was Emily Thorpe Stewart. My father’s name was James Anderson Stewart. He had a twin brother named John Anderson Stewart. They were born in 1881. Their father was named Anderson Stewart. Because they were identical twins, they both were named after their father. My father said when he married my mother, he was not a Christian, but my mother was, and her conduct won him over to become a Christian.
