About the Book
Key is determined to get Eli out of the house and enjoy a day in the park. Eli, paralyzed and bound to his wheelchair, is shown by his friend, Key, the limitless possibilities of imagination. Eli, resistant at first, cannot help but be drawn to his friend’s imagination, and finds inspiration with the adventurous Captain Kirk. Eli realizes in the end, through Key’s encouragement, that he himself cannot be contained.
About the Author
RooAnne Jae was born in the Philippines but has lived most of her life in the California Bay Area, having moved there when she was one and half years old, after her parents migrated from Manila. At a very young age, RooAnne had always had an interest in the visual arts, scribbling and drawing in her sketch pad and helping out her mother in various arts and craft projects. Japanese manga had a great influence in her art, as can be seen in this book. Captain Kirk Approves was written as an 8th Grade short story writing project. RooAnne was was awarded First Place in her school, St. Edward’s School in Newark, California. RooAnne Jae enjoys reading, mostly mystery and adventure novels. She also enjoys the outdoors, hiking and taking regular camping trips with her family during the summer. She takes these opportunities to enjoy another interest, photography. She hopes to be in the marine biology field someday.
