About the Author

A native of Oak Park, Illinois, Goerge River is a Cancer Specialist (Oncologist), and Director of the Freeman Cancer Institute in Joplin, Missouri. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago in 1952, and his Medical Degree (MD) from Loyola Medical School (Chicago) in 1956. He is author of a number of scientific papers, and a chapter of a book on the history of Cook County Hospital. Sometimes, the chuckles and laughter come hard in his line of work, but that makes them all the more vital.
