About the Book

I grew up in a small town on Long Island, New York. When I was a small girl, we used to go into “The City”, as we referred to New York City then; to go shopping. I remember that nice ’ladies’ had to wear dresses, hats and gloves, to be properly attired to shop in the large department stores. The large stores were a wonder beyond belief to a small child, as I was then. and the sales people were extremely polite, even if you did not make a purchase.

I wish to honor those memories, as all that I knew of the Old City no longer exists. Streets that were fashionable living communities are now ghettos, people are rude, they don’t even smile, and stores even lock their doors unless you knock. Then they let you in and lock the door behind you.

I have driven down Wall Street and passed the old church. It stands out in its miniscule way, as a memory of what New York used to be. Mocking the skyscrapers adjacent to it. It is like a small golden bangle on a thin chain that stands out against the skin of a lovely woman.

Therefore, I wish to dedicate this collection of my work to the memory of the “Old Ways” and the “Old Places” and all the large trees, parks, and friends and the neighborhoods that have been destroyed ‘In the Name Of Progress!’

I hope you, who read this book will enjoy my creativity as well as I have enjoyed the creation of it.
