About the Book
The trials, tragedies and miner triumphs of growing up on a southern farm in the 1920's, 1930's. It is the story of being the youngest of seven children, without a mother, tolerated by an indifferent father, overwhelmed by a dominant stepmother, but raised, cared for and protected from the time he was thirteen days old by a gentle and loving grandmother. It is the story of snake bites and whippings, of the ancestral home burning, but also of the love of a puppy and the pleasure of hunting and fishing with an older brother.
