About the Book

About the Author

Author Donald A. Deakins was born and raised in Southern California. During WWII, he served on two different ships in the US Coast Guard. After the war he began his professional career in the aerospace industry where he invented several special processes focused on improving the performance of airplanes. He later went on to become a partner in four emerging companies, retiring in 1990. His hobbies include sculpting in glass, creating works of art with leaded and stained glass and writing children’s stories. Don currently lives in Rancho Palos Verdes with his wife of nearly 60 years. Over forty years ago Don began telling stories to his young children at bedtime, making up the tales as he told them. The children usually begged for more, never tiring of listening to them over and over. With the help of Don's vivid imagination, the characters took on lively personalities, sometimes fashioned after the antics of the kids. When the children shared the stories with their friends, they always wanted more, too. Don decided to write the stories so they could be enjoyed for years to come. That was the beginning of Kidories. The characters are simple, kind, usually honest and always real. Friendships are lasting. Loyalty and integrity abound. The clever situations are easy for children to imagine although sometimes a little outlandish, but that's just part of the fun of these delightful stories. These stories are the heritage of a loving father for the children he cherished. They have become his gift to three generations: his children, grandchildren and, now, his great-grandchildren.
