Eugene Michael Skazinski, AKA Gene Skye was born on Sept. 2, 1924 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Educated at St. Isidore's elementary school and Davis Technical and Vocational High School. Graduated from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. Attended Beloit College, Wisconsin under the Army Air force Cadet program. Graduated from the Delta Base Educational Center in Southern France. Did graduate work at Michigan State University. Worked for Betty Tobin (future wife) at the DeSales Book and Gift Store. Taught English and coached at Catholic Central High School until retirement. Now working 9eleven years) as a substitute teach for the Grand Rapids Public School System. Was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in action in Germany in World War II. Has a family of nine children, 7 girls, and 2 boys.
