About the Book

This book is about an African American female that grew up in the heart of the Deep South, whose parents were sharecroppers. As one of twelve children, I was not prepared for city life. This book chronicles choices I made and how those choices put me in a life and death situation, and how God has chosen to save my life even though I lived a less than exemplary existence.

The book starts at about the age of twelve as I explored life in my own dreams. It follows through to highlight many experiences that changed my life. See how I pursued my education and how I overcame the many obstacles that were in my way. Mistakes, yes I have made them but they have only served to strengthen my determination to accept the wrath of my actions and learn to make educated choices. Without this knowledge and the grace of God, I would not have survived.

Even writing this book has served in the healing process for me. I have put my story out in the hopes that the information will provide the inspiration that if you have God on your side, nothing is impossible. I feel God is responsible for me writing this book to inspire others.

The eagle on the cover of the book represents my perception of my life. It presents an image of fearlessness, power and determination. When an eagle meets a storm, he chooses to fly through it and not be deterred. This is how I pattern my life. I feel the adversities I have survived have made me a stronger individual and have definitely strengthened my relationship with God. My philosophy is death comes easy. I choose instead of dying to work hard at living.
