About the Book

The year is 2090.

With warmth, humor, and affection, Alan Grande explains to his great-grandson, Jake, the events of the past century that led to the impending end of their lives. Their love for each other is palpable, as they face their final days with emotional strength and heartfelt tenacity.

Alan’s flashbacks portray the moral corruption of society, and depict the follies and absurdities of politics. The decisions made by the country’s leaders would take the nation in only one direction – toward disintegration and collapse. The Gladiators Wore Blue sketches some of the troublesome similarities between the histories of Ancient Rome and the United States.

Alan and Jake mentally examine the country’s failures, and the story builds as domino after domino falls, leading to the most catastrophic event of all.

You will embrace Alan and Jake with all your heart. Their final five days will draw on your feelings and heighten all your fears. Their tale is our tale. Their fate could be our fate. It’s all too possible.

About the Author

Stephen Uman participated in many of the DEA undercover operations described in Snow On The Carpet. Since the book involved ineptitude and corruption within the federal agency, the DEA naturally wanted to review and approve the content before the story was made public. Anticipating substantial censorship of the material, Mr. Uman refused to comply with the request. To protect the innocent and avoid retribution, the first printing of Snow On The Carpet was under Mr. Uman’s pseudonym, River Banks. Mr. Uman, a former journalist and government official, has written stage plays, film scripts, music and lyrics, and a slew of newsletters. He is currently working on a number of projects, all of which involve exposing the innumerable private agendas and outright incompetence found in all levels of government.
