About the Author

Noelle Harmon, born and raised in Philadelphia, attends American University as a full-time student in the District of Columbia. She had her first poem, “What If,” published in the Expressions Journal (2002) and began her formal years of writing as a teenager, finally compiling her work as a senior in high school. Having a primary educational background at an all-girls private school, she is profoundly affected by learning in a same-sex environment. Inspired by her teachings from home, the social circumstances of others, historical injustice, and the normal day-to-day scene, she became proficient at using poetry as a lens into her world. Fascinated by the effectiveness of poetry within literature, she enjoys reading the work of a wide variety— from Walt Whitman to Emily Dickenson, Li Young-Lee to Langston Hughes. She intends for her own work to walk the thin line between the conventional and the unconventional. She hopes to one day make a powerful statement in her community by bringing new light to dead subjects.
