About the Book

Visit Kids ‘N’ Stuff whenever you like with “KIDs” as your tour guide. Written by founder Rebecca Mitchell with artwork by Karen Dobbins and Mary Habicht, this book will take you on an adventure through some of the museum’s most popular exhibits. This book is a wonderful way to remember a visit to the museum or to share it with friends and family who can’t visit themselves. What started as a dream for children, today is Kids ‘N’ Stuff. In the spring of 2000 Rebecca Mitchell sat on an airplane reading an article about the Boston Children’s Museum. As she sat reading the article, a vision for the future of downtown Albion and the community’s youth came to her: take a building that been vacant for over 10 years and turn it into a children’s museum. As a member of the Albion Public School Board and Downtown Development Authority, Mrs. Mitchell had first hand knowledge of both community economic needs and the lack of resources for children under the age of 10. From her desire to create a safe and engaging environment for youth, and the generosity of building donor Tom Feldpausch, more than 100 community volunteers joined together to open Kids ‘N’ Stuff: An Interactive Experience for Kids, which opened to the public on September 15, 2002. This activity is supported by the Community Development Artist in Residence Grant Program of the Arts & Industry Council and is made possible by a grant from the WK Kellogg Foundation.
