About the Book

Kate O’Malley’s happy and secure life is shattered by the disappearance of her husband and two children who are missing and presumed dead in a boating mishap. Kate, grief-stricken by the loss of her family, becomes deeply despondent and in a moment of despair steps into the ocean to join her loved ones. But the Winds of Destiny foil her plans and she is rescued by an off-duty lifeguard.

Despite her rescue, she is still unable to cope with her loss until she learns to lean on the support provided by her in-laws and a detective who befriends her. The detective learns that her husband has been killed by the drug cartel dealers, but that her children, thought to be still alive, have been kidnapped.

As they search for the children, Kate relies on the strength of Detective Jim Kelly to see her through her ordeal. Together, they share the hope and disappointment of ever finding the children, yet they do not give up. Jim, not only helps Kate search for her children, but also helps her pick up the pieces of her shattered life, giving her the will to live again and the courage to love again.

About the Author

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Mayvis B. Gorst was born and raised in Wisconsin and has lived in Oklahoma, Missouri, and California. Mrs. Gorst worked for thirty years in patient care professions, including respiratory therapy and visiting nurse. She also took care of more than two hundred children as a foster mother during a ten year period. Out of her experiences with her patients and foster children, she created the characters in Winds of Destiny, which fulfilled a life-long ambition to become a novelist. This is Mrs. Gorst’s first book.
