Samuel Drew (1765-1833) was a prominent metaphysician and a well-respected author during his lifetime. He was renowned as a prolific speaker and was a highly sought after teacher. Drew is best remembered for his lectures on the syntax and etymology of the English language. He received a Master of Arts degree from Marischal College in 1824, and he also was a member of the Manchester Philological Society. Some of his other works include The Life of Dr. Thomas Coke and An Essay on the Immateriality and Immortality of the Soul.
