About the Book
The Happy Rat: Rats and Animal Rights—a rat-care book with a vegan philosophy, a compassionate and gentle work about loving and caring for your very special companions. This delightfully written and illustrated book is a paean to rats, demonstrated through a compilation of the author's own beautiful experiences with these usually misunderstood and often despised creatures. The author manages not only to let us see through her eyes the individuality and attractive personalities of the various rats that she has befriended through the years, but also to make a profound and powerful case for animal rights in general. I couldn't put down the book until the very end. It is absorbing, informative, and different. A conversation piece with an important message, pleasingly conveyed, and wonderfully illustrated. Anyone with a heart will not forget its lessons. --Professor Brian Stross Department of Anthropology University of Texas at Austin
