About the Book

About the Author

David Wells, Minister, father and author, grew-up on the streets and in the neighborhoods of both the east and the west side of Oakland, ca. Here he writes about the street life that he says has become twisted and a far cry from “the game” he grew up knowing. An X-addict, X-felon, X-parolee, former thief, robber, and drug peddler he lays down the difference between “game” lived by the code of the street and “game” lived by thoughtless ego, twisted and with- out purpose…Players, back in the day, and the so- called players of today! A graduate of McClymonds High School in Oakland, a student at both the old and the new Merritt jr. College campus’s David grew-up during the turbulent years of the70’s and 80’s social movements and participated in many of the rallies of the Black Panther party, and civil rights organizations active during the same period. With two young adult children David still has a finger on the pulse of street life as it is being lived out today in the hip-hop/ rap culture that has swept not just the states, but the world…In his book “ “Real Talk “ he draws some gutsy and streetwise parallels that will, no doubt, provoke new thought on some old subjects as he calls the culture into accountability for its misguided representation and error in its portrayal of “ the game “…
