Book Summary: We struggle with adversity. Sometimes we struggle with worse: recurring sins, addictions, anger, self-loathing, depression, fear. Overwhelmed, we feel like an insect caught in a spider’s web, helpless to break free. The devil, the world, and our own flesh can spin these webs and leave us feeling victimized and alone. Often, it’s our own lack of obtaining and applying God’s wisdom that both entangles us and prevents us from Him from breaking us free. Author Nicole Ellis has been trapped in such webs, and has been bitten and drained and left for dead by the worst of these metaphorical spiders. But in God she has discovered the antivenom, and in His Word the means to break free, heal, and become the victor. In this book of devotions, Ellis shares with you the wisdom God led her to on her own journey through predators’ lairs, that you may take hold of the Rescuer, and with Him by your side break free of your webs, and find the joy to live abundantly again.

About the Author

About the author: Author Nicole Ellis came to Jesus in 1987 through a Christian radio program she unwittingly turned the dial to. She’d never heard Christian music before, but at the sound of a beautiful hymn she stopped to listen. After the hymn, an unknown minister spoke about the peace and joy of salvation. His message led her to Christ. Ellis, prompted by God, began journal writing three years ago and it evolved into her first book of devotions, I Am Not Afraid of Spiders. Married nineteen years and mother of two teenage children, Ellis earned her Masters in public administration and a BS in political science and mass communications. She is a caregiver for the elderly and disabled, and attends Calvary Chapel. She lives in southern Idaho.
