Colonel Karl-August Emmenthal – the Wehrmacht’s “fixer” in Transportation on the northern Russian front in1942-43 was “two steps from Hitler” in the hierarchy of Blitzkrieg. However, Emmenthal would come under Hitler’s scrutiny not for his prowess in military transporation – rather, his name was ensconced on Hitler’s secret list of 76 Wehrmacht officers who had “Jewish blood in their family” and had been given an “Aryan exemption” by the Fûhrer.
