About the Book

EXPRESSIONS ONE contributes to the Second Language Acquisition process by allowing the user to work on three different components: Fosilization: unnoticed errors adopted as the norm for the users; Noticing: the observation of language details needed to expand the competence; and the Affective Filter: this handbook lowers the anxiety of being corrected by an external source. Instead, it allows the users to correct themselves.

About the Author

Juan Diego Duque Arroyave has been a foreign language instructor for more than two decades, specialized in Spanish as a foreign language. He has qualifications from Colombia (B. Ed), Trinidad and Tobago (MPhil) and Canada (TESOL). He has also worked at the tertiary level in Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago and the USA. He is currently a Foreign Language Instructor at the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC). His areas of research interest are Spanish productive skills: oral and writing, empirical psychoanalysis in foreign language acquisition, and cultural clashes. The exposure to second language acquisition theories enable him to create a parallel research following some psychoanalytical guidelines: from Sigmund Freud to Stephen Krashen.
