The Atlantica Territories – a loosely held group of city states controlled by the human race – is on the brink of total annihilation. To the south, a sinister nation known as the Dark Empire has recently discovered an ancient art to tip the balance of power – the ability to control and fly dragons. Now besieged by an aerial bombardment against which they have little defense, the Atlantican people struggle to survive. However, one teenage girl holds the key to their possible salvation. She is known as Loki.

Having already lost her family to the war, Loki becomes a refugee and flees the fighting for sanctuary in the Elf Kingdom. Loki’s father worked as a historian and studied the secret lore concerning the Amulet of the Guardian. It was said the amulet possessed divine powers that could summon a super-natural being – a Guardian – to the planet. Loki believes the Guardian could save her world. It is one orphan girl’s determination that drives her to complete the work of her father…to find the amulet…to summon a Guardian…and to save her people from the Dark Empire once and for all.

About the Author

Nick Belote was born in Newport News, Virginia in 1978. He grew up on the east coast of Virginia and now resides in Hampton, Virginia. In 1997 he attended Virginia Tech where he studied for two years before transferring to the College of William and Mary. Nick graduated from William and Mary in 2002 with a BA degree in Philosophy. Following graduation, Nick began work writing his book Atlantica: Amulet of the Guardian. His liberal arts studies in philosophy at college and the editing work he did for the presiding chairman of the philosophy department greatly influenced his writing. While continuing to write, Nick began a teaching career with the Newport News School District. In 2006, Nick left teaching and joined the banking industry where he continues to work. Nick finally completed his book, Atlantica: Amulet of the Guardian, in 2006 and is currently in the early stages of starting a second book for the series.
