About the Book

Fifteen years after a drug transfer through Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin goes awry, Justin Lawrence finds himself the target of extortion by a shadowy cartel. When Justin inexplicably disappears, his wife, Jackie, calls in friend and private investigator Alexis Mason to find him. Starting in New York, the search expands to Berlin, Toronto, and the Caribbean. Meanwhile, the drug cartel stalks Alexis and her associate, Travis, at their home base on the North Carolina Outer Banks to discover what they know about Justin's location.

About the Author

While growing up in Bethesda, Maryland, a doorstep from Washington, D.C., Joyce Holland developed a life long passion for history, politics, and worldwide cultural diversity. She spent twenty-nine years working in Europe as a teacher and counselor with the Department of Defense Overseas Schools for military dependents. This experience allowed her to travel the world, and to witness history in the making including the crushing of Czechoslovakia's 1968 Prague Spring by Soviet tanks, the opening of Mao's China in the 1980's, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Now retired in North Carolina, Joyce continues to seek out new unexplored places and actively supports her interests in environmental and wildlife protection and preservation.
