About the Author

I was born in Temple, Texas. I moved to Las Vegas NV to further my career in the restaurant / nightclub industry. I was partnered with a group that owned several venues located in both San Francisco and Las Vegas. I had plenty of cash, but no time to spend it. I had a fancy car, but 2 D.U.I.’s. I had an amazing girlfriend, but we fought all the time. I had a beautiful apartment in the marina, but I always missed home. I even had 10,000 MySpace friends, but only a few real ones. What is going on? I had everything society had told me I needed, but I felt like I had nothing. I was living a material life revolved around quantity not quality. I was flying back and forth to S.F. and Vegas almost every weekend. I remember one flight back home after a long weekend of partying, I had a window seat. I remember looking out the window into the clouds and thinking. “Is this life is all about?” why do I feel so alone. I knew something was wrong with the way I was living my life. I started applying more balance to my life; trying to fi gure out things for myself. I learned a few things but the progress felt so slow. Soon after, the partnership fell apart, the clubs started closing down and my self-owned consulting business was not taking off. All I had left was myself; so much for balance. So I started searching for some answers.
