About the Author

Johana Meléndez- Santiago, M.S., born and raised in Puerto Rico now teaches undergraduate Microbiology at the Hillsborough Community College and serves as a Research Specialist in the Flow Cytometry Core Facility at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, Florida. With a Master’s degree in Medical Microbiology she has been actively involved in Microbiology education. She enjoys helping students of all ages understand the fascinating world of microbes and actively seeks for opportunities to visit public schools and serve as mentor for undergraduate students. As a mother of three boys, reading to her children is one of her hobbies.
