About the Book

“ Lifetimes Ago” is a saga that leaps off the pages. It transports you into the lives of ordinary women like you and me, who centuries ago, endured difficulties and hardships, during a bygone era of life in the deep south… The story opens in 1916 in Barbrae, Louisiana with Grandma Cathy, a heroic mid-wife, who navigates her own horse-drawn surrey. Even in the midst of sometimes harsh opposition, she makes calls from house to house. Her most infamous call is from her daughter, Hazel Rose, for whom she delivers a baby girl named Lilly. The plot continues with Lillys’ desire to taste life on her own. She, one day, decides to leave the nest and move to the big city. Thus, she says good-bye to her parents and small town living, only to find life quite different in the big city. “Lifetimes Ago” spans four generations and should appeal to short-story, historical, fiction readers of any age group.

About the Author

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Winnely Joyce, has had a love for writing ever since her “Big Chief” tablet school days. Over the years, she became even more passionate about expressing her ideas on paper. Listening to her 90 year old mother vividly recollect experiences over the past nine decades, inspired her to document a historical tribute to her. Thus, her first book entitled “Vita’s Legacy” was published in 2004. A second book “Calico Roses” was made available in 2008. Winnely’s other interest is photography. One of her photos placed in a contest and published in a volume called “Optical Illusions”. Then, another was used in the cover design of “Vita’s Legacy”. Married over 40 years, she and her husband have three children, Natalie, Kevin and Cicely, as well as nine grandchildren.
