About the Author

Richard Pate was born during depression to very young but caring parents. He spent his early years near grandparents so he never had a shortage of love and attention. As he went to military schools he was indoctrinated in military lifestyle, yet his mother was surprised when he joined the Corps. At 14, he met his wife, and it is to her that he owes any success he’s had. They graduated college together, have 5 kids and later spent 35 years in Hawaii. He served a total of 24 years in Corps and fought in 2 wars. After retirement from Corps, he took on a second career by becoming an aerospace engineer. He worked on such programs as Space Shuttle Mods, F-22, B-1B and F-117. Eventually, he retired from aerospace and became a history teacher. Richard is now living with his wife, near the beautiful white sand beaches of South Alabama.
