About the Book
In the winter of 2008, I was diagnosed with cancer and given only months to live. I then learned that, instead, I had sarcoidosis, a rare and potentially fatal inflammatory disease that affects the organ systems of the body. The initial cancer diagnosis came within days of when my youngest son, Chris, was in a near-fatal truck accident, the dissolution of my marriage and just two days before the birth of my youngest grandson, Landin. Several months later, I began to keep a journal as a coping mechanism. I shared it with my mom, who forwarded it on to a few people. Over a few months’ time, the e-mail list of those who received my journal entries grew and grew. The journals helped me discover the blessings that came as a result of the illness and emotional upheaval of watching my son fight for his life. This book is simply a compilation of some of the first two years’ of journals. My hope is that the lessons and blessings I gathered along the way will somehow touch those who read it.
