A struggling private investigator, Alan Williams, is called out of the blue by an old friend and colleague. He arrives only too late after his friend is killed. What looked like a suicide to the police looks differently to Alan as a murder. Coincidentally, the day before a merger victim washed up shore on the Detroit River which really has the police baffled.
