About the Book

I’m a firm believer that to write about the truth sometimes you have to write outside the box. When you follow all the rules in writing and do the same thing that everyone else does, sometimes the real truth takes a slight turn toward the “not so realistic” but more toward the “right way” to author a book. Since my book is about actual calls that I responded to as they occurred and so as to keep them as factual as possible, I do use some of the actual language, graphic and raw as it was, in trying to describe the scene as I remember. I do not wish to offend anyone but I feel that to do anything else would be an injustice to my readers. I want realism in my accounts of the calls depicted here in as a first responder. Won’t you come along and see?

About the Author

Born the oldest of three in south Texas, in 1944, I was taught the value of family and truth early in life. While at early age I may have expanded slightly on some of the stories I told to get out of trouble, it was never too far from the truth, and I’m stickin’ to that. When I started out to write a book documenting the calls that I had responded to for almost 29 years on the Clark County Fire Department in Las Vegas, Nevada, I wanted to make them as accurate as possible without being too far off on names, times and dates, so I stay away from them as much as possible. Come with me on the calls that stand out most. Close your eyes and picture the scene, the trauma, the tears and the laughter as it came naturally while serving as a Firefighter/Paramedic/Fire Investigator.
