About the Book
“Company A!” is the account of a special group of mostly very young men who became brothers in arms as members of Company A, 1269th Engineer Combat Battalion, serving during 1944 and 1945 in the European Theatre of Operations of World war II. This record of continuous combat duty was second only to that of the 3rd Division among all American troops in Europe during World War II. The author, Jeep driver for the Company Commander, relied on letters home, saved by his parents, augmented by the oral and written recollections of his comrades, battalion records and published memoirs of others for this story.
