About the Book

We are marked by our love, our lost love and our love of life. These are a set of select and signature poems of over a twenty year period written by Leona Marie Hetherington. She shares with her heartfelt moments filled with both softness and angst for the men she has loved and lost as well as the love for the life she has lived.

About the Author

Leona Marie Hetherington is an award winning writer, visual artist and photographer. Hetherington has published under different names, using also the surname of her deceased husband, Guthrie, as well as her maiden name, Schweninger, and finally just Leona Marie. As she published her second book, Gravity Tattoo, she was married briefly to a San Antonio, Texas artist. Shortly after publication, during the fifth month of their marriage, she reported her husband of attempted murder, rape and aggravated assault and battery. Two years later, the case was finally tried under aggravated assault and battery. Hetherington ascertains that on the night they were married, her husband insisted she change the beneficiary of her TRS insurance monies to his name, so he could, "take care of her." Despite her numerous pleas for help to friends and finally the police, she finally left him. She is currently writing the story of the marriage and is titling the work, Beauty Marks the Beast. She hope to complete it within the next two years. Meanwhile, Hetherington is working on a doctorate in psychology and continues to showcase her art and photography.
