The youngest of four children, she began her creative career at age seven, by learning to play the piano by ear. Music was her first love, and the entire family of four children and parents would sing on road trips, visiting relatives and enroute vacations. She lived in Pennsylvania and Delaware as a child. By her teens, she was writing poetry and short stories and studying the styles of Dickinson, Sandburg, and Frost. During the 60s, she began playing guitar, and writing song lyrics, singing at local coffee houses in Philadelphia. During the 70's, she became part of a folk duo, known as "Cornell and Nickelsberg". During this time, she composed a piano piece, entitled "Seasons', which aired on cable TV as a theme song for a variety talent show for well over a year. Nancy has completed two music CDs, having written the lyrics to most of the songs on the CDs. She moved to Oregon in the early 90s, and has continued to write both words and music to folk, country, and pop songs, primarily ballads. She continues to perform as a solo act, and as part of a trio, "Nickels and Stars Trio". Her most recent CD will be completed sometime in early 2012, featuring piano, strings and cello, also featuring songs with lyrics by Herb Etheridge. Nancy attended Temple University, in Philadelphia, Community College of Philadelphia, and College of the Albemarle in North Carolina, with continued emphasis on a creative writing cirriculum. She has two children and six grandchildren, four living in Oregon and two in Philadelphia.
