About the Book

Here before you is the life, the love and the great adventure of Taris, Lord of the Britains. Before King Arthur, Lancelot and Gueniver were archived to the pages of legend, a great King and his legendary companions set fire to the world. A wonderful story of a great people carving a nation that changed the face of history and civilization forever. In this tale, I hope to bring alive the life and great deeds of King Taris. Step back in time and relive the life of this great King. Travel with him as he struggles with faith, love and courage. Share in the battles as tries to hold a fragile Roman Britain and it’s peoples together. Relive a time when King wanted to be nothing more than a man and a God that wanted him to be a King. A good wholesome story, eligible for any age to read and enjoy. Characters in the book are taken from real history and legend, brought together in their original character. Taris is the love of land, family and the struggle with war and conflicting peoples. Much has been written about the time of King Arthur, with much of it overdone. My work hints on the time before King Arthur in the beginnings of western culture and the foundations of today in these lands. You could say, the Grandfather of King Arthur. You will find the characters of Padraig (St. Patrick), Taris Ambrossius, Ambrossius Aureilias, Gaius Uther Pendragon, Vortigern, Vitalinus and even Merlyn as a young man. Circa 400AD, The Roman legions have left Britain with Constantine at their lead. Left behind, an undefended people; a mix of Celts, Scots, Saxon and Romans. In the vacuum of Britain left by Rome´s withdrawal, these great people strive to build a common culture, in the midst of hate and religious zeal. Interior legends reach back to the beginning of memory, bring forth myth and magic. In all, it´s a struggle not uncommon today. The love of family, the bonds of men and women, the search for courage, love and faith. They struggle with as their new world clashes with the old. The main character influenced by his conscious, ignites a fire of civilization that ushers in the world as we know it today. Much of this research is 20 years in the search. Characters long lost to common written history come forth and answer; who and what we are as a people today. In all, the common decency of us all.

About the Author

Born at the end of the Korean War, and as far as I can remember I spent much of time reading of the great deeds of men in legend long ago. I realized at an early age I had a fascination with history. My hope for a college education in history were stifled by the Viet Nam war and my call to duty as my fathers before me. Returning home I met and married and became the father of three wonderful sons. Again I put my education on hold. Years after and in my forties, it was time to pursue my education. I graduated with a BA degree from Wet Liberty Sate College and then soon pursued my Masters at California University and Duquesne University in Education. I entered the teaching profession and revived some of my old stories I had written at a much younger age. I have written a few short stories and some modern poetry. My interest in history was always there and that lead to the many years of research into this story of Taris. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I have in the research and the telling.
