About the Book

“It was the best of days; it was the worst of days…” Kristen read from the book A Tale of Two Cities (Charles Dickens), and thought how closely the quote seemed to parody her own life. But as her own self proclaimed worst enemy, Kristen “sour-puss” DiMaria, is stuck in a world of pessimisms! Kristen dreams her way through her days – dreaming of the day she’d have her first boyfriend and tons of attentive friends – she is after all a teenage girl. Inexperienced and unconfident and trusting to a fault. Just as things are beginning to look up, Kristen finds herself surrounded by her worst fears where she learns that not everyone is as they present themselves. Betrayed by her best friend, Kristen suddenly finds herself alone in a world where life is anything but perfect!

About the Author

Donna Petranto lives and works in Long Island, New York. She has had a passion for writing since the age of ten. She began this book, My Silver Lining, during her early years in high school, inspired by some of her own friendships, their attitudes and the tumultuous life of a teenager. She continues to spend much of her time writing poetry and short stories and is working towards her next publication. My Silver Lining is her first. Currently, she is working as a freelance writer and will soon be returning to college for graduate studies.
