About the Book

Webster and Friends: Today the Alphabet is a children’s picture book, with various concepts placed throughout the book. On each page is a letter of the alphabet appearing in a different color; I deliberately did this in hopes of having the child begin to practice patterns (math skills). The letter that is placed on each page is to infer the letter’s sound for the beginning of the word (D is for “dog”). I also wish for children (parents/readers) to understand that animals are a wonderful way to incorporate skills of friendship and caring. Webster and his friends care very much about one another and enjoy spending time together learning about the alphabet and the world around them.

Webster and I (Robin Marie) hope to share more books with the children later on about other concepts that will inspire learning.

This is a book that can be looked at by young children and read to the children by adults. My hopes with this book are that parents and children relate to learning concepts together, that a bonding between parents and children occurs, and that children develop a love for animals and for learning. I truly believe that reading to very young children assists them with all areas of development and skills for now and for the future.

About the Author

Hello my name is Robin Marie Houseworth. I am a New York State certified Pre-Kindergarteen (Pre-K) through sixth (6th) grade teacher. I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Elementary Education at the College of St. Rose located in Albany, New York. I am earning my degree to obtain my permanent certification as an Elementary school teacher here in the state of New York or perhaps elsewhere. I enjoyed the company of young children; I have worked in the filed of Early Childhood Education for many years. I find it very rewarding to observe children growing and succeeding in all areas of life, especially to watch a young child as her/his eyes “light up” as she/he grasps a new skill or concept. I have “toyed” with the idea of being a children’s picture book writer for a while. Webster-my pet rabbit, my dog and my cat have been ideal helpers for my project. We hope that all of the children, parents, grandparents, teachers and others that read, look, learn and spend time together with the story, will truly enjoy and appreciate the book. Sincerely, Robin Marie Houseworth
